What do we do?

To develop and distribute an acoustic virtual “gym” to train human echolocation, the often underdeveloped ability to locate and identify objects and obstacles in one’ surroundings by relying on features in the acoustic landscape surrounding the individual. The project has already developed a proof of concept virtual reality that is in use to study user experience and to gain insights into potentials for development beyond the original intended use, to strengthen the case for its sustainability. The goal is currently to develop adequate user interface, and to transfer the application on cloud infrastructures to provide ease of access to adequate computational resources, and social network features to make the training environment up to the best evidences in pedagogy.
